Rotary offers spring health check

Those people who are “hands on” with their health will be interested in the upcoming Rotary Spring Healthcheck event on Saturday, March 12. This annual blood screening program will take place at Union Hospital in Dover, and is cosponsored by the hospital and the New Philadelphia Rotary Club. Appointment times are available between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The cost of the health check is $40. Elements of the blood profile include a complete cholesterol lipid panel with HDL, LDL, and triglycerides, and blood tests for anemia, diabetes, kidney, liver, thyroid function, and infection. A PSA prostate cancer screening for men is $15 additional.

Union Hospital laboratory staff will draw the blood samples and perform all the testing in the hospital’s lab. A printed report will be sent to the home of each health check participant, providing all test results and noting anything out of normal range.

Appointments for the health check can be made one of two ways. Online appointments can be made now by going to the Union Hospital website at http://www.unionhospital.org. Go to the health events calendar for March 12, click on the healthcheck event, and complete the online registration form.

Telephone appointments will be taken March 1, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The number to call that day will be 330-364-0950.

Proceeds from the health check are used by the New Philadelphia Rotary Club for its many community service activities.
