Myron was born July 12, 1944, in Millersburg, to the late Earl Leroy and Alma Ariata Young. He was a 1962 graduate of Killbuck High School, where he was very active in football and played on their undefeated team. He loved practical jokes and making people laugh. He was a hard worker and his big frame earned him the nickname “Moose.”
Myron was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966. He had basic training at Ft. Knox, Ky., then was sent on to Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, to train as a medic. He proudly served in Vietnam as a medic from 1966-67 at his home base in Pleiku. He came back and served the rest of his time in Colorado at Fitzsimons General Hospital and was honorably discharged in 1968.
He spent many years traveling with his family to different states but especially loved the west and the Rockies.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Young, whom he married March 5, 1965; daughter, Shannon (Monte) Rohr of Glenmont; four grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Young, Abigail Lynn Rohr, Nathaniel Douglas Rohr, and Natalie Elise Rohr; sisters, Edna (Wayne) Barnes of New Philadelphia, Lillian (Omar) Chaney of Blissfield, and Marilyn (Calvin) Lint-Ginther of Wooster; and special friend and Army brother, John Truitt of Fredericktown.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sean Mitchell Young; sister, Frances Young; and brother-in-law, Ernest Lint.
Celebration of life services will be held Feb. 14, at 1 p.m., at Killbuck First Church of Christ, with Rev. Gerald Craycraft officiating. Burial will be in Killbuck Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by the Killbuck VFW. Friends may call Feb. 13, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, and one hour prior to services at the church.
