Betty Sanders

Betty J. Sanders, 67, of Port Washington, died peacefully Feb. 11, 2011, at Aultman Hospital, following a period of declining health.

Born August 31, 1943, in Dennison, Betty was a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Agnes Belle Ferguson. She graduated high school from Dennison and married the late Fred William Sanders in 1962.

Betty will be remembered as a loving and nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother who always took the time to tend to the needs of others. So skilled was she as a caregiver that for most of her life she worked two jobs outside of the home. She was affiliated with the former Charity Nursing Home, Dennison, and worked at the former South Broadway Nursing Home, New Philadelphia, and was most recently employed by Ember Complete Care, Uhrichsville.

At home, Betty doted upon her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching television and working crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her son, Michael P. Sanders (fiancee, Amy Knight) of Newcomerstown; daughters, Debbie Moore (fiance, Carl Irwin) of Port Washington and Amy Glazer of Collierville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim (Carol) Ferguson of Newcomerstown.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Fred William Sanders Jr.; grandson, Matthew Glazier; and siblings, Bob, Pauline, Roy, and Donald.

Services will be held Feb. 16, at 5 p.m., at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Hugh B. Berry officiating. Friends are invited to call from 4-5 p.m.

Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family at http://www.geibcares.com.
