Emra Troyer

Emra A. Troyer, 79, of Sugarcreek, died Feb. 28, 2011, at his residence, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 6, 1931, in Holmes County, Emra was a son of the late Ammon B. and Mary Troyer. He retired in 2010 from Carlisle Printing, Walnut Creek, and was a member of the Amish Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary N. Troyer, whom he married Dec. 11, 1956; children, Harold (Ruby) Troyer of Walhonding, Esther (Ruben) Schlabach and Merlin (Linda) Troyer, both of Sugarcreek, Twila (Dale) Beachy of Millersburg, Monroe (Carolyn) Troyer of Dundee, Bobby (Linda) Troyer of Sugarcreek, Jay Troyer of Dover, Brandon Troyer of Baltic, and Vonda (Roman Jr.) Beachy and Michael (Carol) Troyer, both of Sugarcreek; 34 grandchildren; brothers, Ben (Mabel) Troyer and Atlee (Nettie) Troyer, both of Sugarcreek; and sisters, Freda Beachy, Erma Schrock, and Fannie Troyer, all of Sugarcreek.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Calista Schrock and Mary Kaufman.

Services will be held March 2, at 9 a.m., at Maranatha Fellowship Church, Sugarcreek, with Bishop Menno N. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Tuscarawas County. Friends may call March 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Smith-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.
