Richard was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Brewster, to the late Erwin Kaser and Hulda Kaser Miller. He had worked at Republic Steel, Canton, and owned and operated Sugarcreek Data Center from the 1960s until recently. He was a lifelong residence of Sugarcreek and a member of Sugarcreek First United Church of Christ.
Richard was an avid sports fan and regularly followed all the Garaway and major league sports, enjoyed listening to big band music and “amps,” and always enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Kaser, whom he married April 21, 1942; children, Madeline Lahm of Sugarcreek, Laurrie (Ronald) Collins of Killbuck, and Richard (Victoria) Kaser of Philadelphia, Pa.; six grandchildren, Mike (Lisa) Farra, Jody (Mike) Grassman, Jack (Marcia) Collins, Jeanna (Ryan) Shriver, Leah Lahm, and Adaline Kaser; five great-grandchildren, Kody Farra, Ethan and Carlee Grassman, and Brynn and Becca Shriver; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Michael (Kristi) Grassman, William Grassman, and Haley and Kate Myers; brother, Lyle (Karen) Kaser of Sugarcreek; and his special friend, Bill Osborne of Sugarcreek, with whom he would meet every morning at McDonald’s for breakfast for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Willis Kaser and Nolan Kaser; and sister, Mildred Gopp.
Private family services will be held at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek, and burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
