Ethan Weisgarber, a senior from Tuscarawas Valley High School, is the Tuscarawas County recipient of the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award. Ethan is the son of Branden and Kelly Weisgarber of Bolivar. Ethan has been accepted to The Ohio State University where he will pursue a degree in chemical engineering and mathematics.
The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award is sponsored by the Ohio Association of Educational Service Centers and was established in 1989 by Ohio’s county superintendents to recognize and promote student achievement and academic accomplishment. Annually, one senior from each of Ohio’s 88 counties receives this prestigious honor.
The award bears the name of Dr. Franklin B. Walter, who served as state superintendent from 1977-1991. During his tenure, Dr. Walter worked with three governors, significantly improved public education in the state, and brought Ohio’s schools to the forefront of the nation’s attention. He has received numerous honors and has earned the respect and admiration of educators nationwide. His integrity, leadership, optimism and commitment serves as examples for all.
This is the 22nd year for the Ohio Educational Service Center Association’s Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award Program. This select group of high school seniors and their guests are invited to attend the luncheon on Wednesday, April 13, at The Conference Center at NorthPointe near Columbus.
The Ohio Association of Educational Service Centers will present each scholar a plaque, a medallion designating him or her as a scholar, and a pen.
