Dutchman Hospitality opens The Coop, a new home-goods store

Formerly Dutch Valley Furniture, the Dutchman Hospitality Sugarcreek furniture store housed in a historic remodeled chicken coop is reopening as The Coop - a “rustic yet refined” home-goods store. The Coop will host its official grand opening April 7, 8 and 9, and is now open to the public.

“We wanted to bring our customers the softer side of home furnishings and highlight our unique building in the store’s renaming. We still have some furniture pieces like beautiful oak dinettes and Norwalk Furniture upholstery, but we now also offer a range of special home products - from the unique lamps in our lighting center to fine glass-cut dishes,” explained Andrea Erb, manager of The Coop. “Still, the most important thing we offer at The Coop is inspiration - from functionality to décor, we hope to inspire our customers in designing their homes.”

The grand opening will kick off at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 7 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and will go until 8 p.m. The Coop will be filled with live music, refreshments and gadget demonstrations led by store representatives. Design staff will be on-site for design and décor advice, and the first 1,500 customers through the doors will receive a free gift. Customers can also take advantage of a 20 percent discount on custom floral and table arrangements and special sales throughout the Dutch Valley complex. Dutch Valley Restaurant will host a Breakfast Egg Special and Dutch Valley Gifts and Dutch Creek Foods will also offer special sales.

The Coop design team, led by Nathan Paternoster, hand selects each item they bring into the store. Their new inventory includes kitchen islands in a range of prices, sizes and styles, including smaller pine islands, hardwood, butcher block, painted or stained wood and Amish-designed. The Coop also carries aprons, textiles, tea towels, quilts, artwork and Signature Dishes, along with unique kitchen gadgets and tools, and a number of other modern and functional home goods.
