“People are tired of lifelong politicians who milk the system and take their positions for granted. Partisan political bickering is destroying our country and it is time for change,” Fete said. “My goal is to be an independent voice for our city and an advocate that puts people above politics and personal interest.”
Fete brings to the position of law director years of public service experience, at the federal, state, county, and city levels. His varied experience includes managing a U.S. Congressional district office in New Philadelphia, and serving in the Ohio Governor’s office as a liaison for the Lt. Governor between state agencies and the media for services and information. At the county and city levels he has served as a Tuscarawas County Public Defender, an executive assistant to the New Philadelphia Mayor’s Office, and a former Dover City Prosecutor.
In 2003, Marvin Fete became an independent businessman by building his own law firm in New Philadelphia. “Having owned and operated my own business for the past eight years, I understand what it means to meet a payroll and balance a budget. Skills that I believe will make me a better steward of the public’s money as law director,” Fete said.
Fete has been a longtime contributor and supporter of local charitable organizations that benefit the community. In a matter close and personal to him and his family, he has worked with and contributed to organizations that honor veterans and those who have fallen in service to the nation.
Fete is a lifelong resident who was born and raised in New Philadelphia, and a 1988 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. In 1992, he graduated with honors from Baldwin-Wallace College, receiving a bachelor of arts degree. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2000. He resides with his wife Louisa in New Philadelphia. The couple is happily expecting their first child in October.
