Dante’s owners, Dan and Betty Drabik, were very pleased with the fundraiser. Dante’s has offered the meatball sub fundraiser for eight years, partnering with different organizations in the area to offer a percentage of the profit for a 12-inch sub. In the past, Dante’s has partnered with organizations such as Tuscarawas Clinic for the Working Uninsured and Rainbow Connection. Partnering with Historic Schoenbrunn Village this year, the fundraiser focused on assisting with the Schoenbrunn gardens and maintenance, including planting of the village’s gardens to assist in restoring the gardens and helping repair fences and other needed projects.
This year’s fundraiser brought the highest sales, with a total of $1,315 donated to Schoenbrunn. Betty Drabik’s dedication to the area was shared as she reflected on the fundraiser, stating that “Dante’s is working to be part of the fabric of the community, and can do this by supporting the rich history of the area.” Dan Drabik said that he is glad to set an example for other businesses to get involved with their community by such fundraisers.
Historic Schoenbrunn Village will kick off its season this year with a May 21 Lantern Light Tour. The official opening date is scheduled for Memorial Day. For the remainder of the summer, hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Laura Milarcik, site director, was very pleased with the communities support of the fundraiser and stated that this would be a great beginning to the 2011 season.
