Former Congressman Charlie Wilson was the guest of honor at the Tuscarawas County Democratic Party Chairwoman’s Event on Thursday, May 19 at the KSU Tuscarawas Campus Center for Performing Arts in New Philadelphia. Other guests included State Sen. Jason Wilson, Judge Mary Wade Space, former Congressman Zack Space and representatives from labor, as well as local elected officials.

Wilson said, “Democrats really do get it! We understand that elections come in waves and we have learned from our most recent past. We understand the need for balance. Democrats are doing a better job of listening and creating a coherent message that resonates with the American people.”

Chairwoman Ida Barlock was very pleased to see so many Democrats and added, “Charlie Wilson is right, ‘Every election is about our future as a people.’ We are ready to challenge Senate Bill 5 in the fall, and continue to be proud to be Democrats. The Democratic Party has always been at the forefront in the fight for fundamental fairness. It is wrong for the Kasich administration to balance the budget on the backs of Ohio’s working families.”
