Results from the Ohio Swiss Cheese Association Dairy Month contest
Results are in for the Ohio Swiss Cheese Association, Inc. Swiss cheese contest for Dairy Month on June 8.
This is the first of three contests held during the year to determine the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion cheesemakers for the year 2011.
First place: Cheesemaker – Steve Ottiger. Factory – Guggisberg Cheese Co., 5060 SR 557, Millersburg.
Second place: Cheesemaker – Pearl Valley Cheese. Factory – Pearl Valley Cheese Co., 54760 TR 90, Fresno.
Other cheeses entered were from:
Cheesemaker – John Fankhauser/Chad Schindler. Factory – Broad Run Dairy, 6011 Old Route 39, Dover.
Cheesemaker – Leroy Keim. Factory – Bunker Hill Cheese, 6005 CR 77, Millersburg.
Judges for this contest were Doug Randles and Jonas Troyer, cheese buyers, and John Jorg and Tom Mueller, former cheesemakers.
All cheese was judged Grade A.
