“We wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to reach out to the community that has supported us through over 37 years of doing business,” stated Matthew Karam, owner. “Raising money and awareness for such a wonderful, local charity while informing the public of our move proved to be a win-win situation.”
“It wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of our students, their families and many local businesses who donated so graciously,” said Audra Karam, curriculum director for the school. “Getting to know and work with these folks was such a blessing.”
Over the years, Dress-A-Child has provided thousands of less fortunate Tuscarawas County children with new “back to school” clothing and supplies. Their volunteers have raised thousands of dollars annually, which is put back into the community and helps to support the local economy.
Karam’s Martial Arts Academy is a second generation school. The late Master H.J. Karam started teaching Tae Kwon Do in his garage and over the years the business has grown and taught thousands the traditional ways of the martial art form. The school continues to grow, and it was necessary to relocate to a larger facility, which is located in the former Players Choice building, next to the Skate Place in New Philadelphia.
