4-H Health & Safety Speaking Contest announces winners

The 4-H Health & Safety Speaking Contest was held June 16 at J.I.M.’s Place in New Philadelphia. The results of the contest are as follows:

Junior Division (under 14 as of Jan. 1)

- 1st place – Taylor Sprowl of Port Washington, member of Buckhorn Buckshots, “Holey Moley.”



Senior Division (14 and over as of Jan. 1)

- 1st place – Dalton Sprowl of Port Washington, member of Buckhorn Buckshots, “Remember?”

- 2nd place – Jessica Pitcher of Bolivar, member of Tusky Valley Stars, t“The Scoop on Sleep.”

- 3rd place – Joanna Beitzel of Stone Creek, member of Valley Equestrians, “Monster House.”



Skit Contest

- 1st place – Backyard Buckeyes 4-H Club, Members: Richie and Hannah Johns of Uhrichsville.

- 2nd place – Buckhorn Buckshots 4-H Club, Members: Taylor Sprowl of Port Washington, Maddy Schupp of New Philadelphia, Clayton Sprowl of Port Washington, Reno and Cassandra Hupp of Port Washington, “Just Relax.”

- 3rd place – Atwood Lakers 4-H Club, Members: Michala Metzcar of Mineral City, Tayler Allen of Mineral City, Abby and Nate Ackerman of Bolivar and Barbie Boyd of Mineral City, “Ready – Set – Camp.”



First place in the Junior Division, first, second and third place in the Senior Division and first, second and third place in the Skit Contest, will compete at the regional contest, which will be held in Wooster on July 8.

Trophies for the contest were donated by Tuscarawas County 4-H Committee. Judges were Tina Jones Armstrong, Denise Cooley, Patty Maag, and Pam Stull.
