President Marcie Dryden, of Tuscarawas, reported on the success of the recent School House Winery Show, where the artists experienced a beautiful day in a great setting, with a large crowd of visitors and a variety of sales. The guild is looking forward to doing the winery show again next year. The next art display will take place on the curved porch of the Reeves Mansion in Dover, for their annual Ice Cream Social, from noon to 4 p.m. This event has proven to be a fun day for the entire family.
A young student, Nathan Dryden of Tuscarawas, who is taking a course in photography through his local 4-H group, gave a brief but interesting talk on how to choose the predominant eye to use when focusing on a subject while looking through the camera’s viewfinder.
Harley Sefert, of New Philadelphia, noted the passing of Frank Taylor, of Port Washington, who had been a longtime member. After suffering a stroke in the early 1980s, Taylor was eventually able to revive his artistic talent with great determination, along with the encouragement and support of his fellow artists in the guild. In his memory, an art related book will be donated to the Tuscarawas County Public Library, through the Tuscarawas County Art Guild.
The Tuscarawas County Art Guild meets the third Tuesday of the month at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, located at 461 Robinson Drive SE, in New Philadelphia, at 7 p.m. Visitors are always welcome.
