Racing action fizzles over Fourth of July weekend as Mother Nature wins again

There were no fireworks on the track at Hilltop Speedway over the Independence Day holiday weekend as heavy morning rains left Street Stock drivers holding wet invitations at the gates, on Saturday, July 3, when the $800 Street Stock Invitational was postponed and racing action was washed away for the seventh time in 2011.

Since an opening night rain out back on April 2, Hilltop has not been able to host racing on three consecutive weekends without being interrupted by Mother Nature's tantrums, as only six nights of regular racing have taken place in the five main divisions.

Street Stock drivers will have invitations in hand once again on Saturday, July 9, as they go for the $800 prize in the Street Stock Invitational while drivers in the Holmes Tire Late Models, Tri-State Modifieds, Guerne Heights Drive-In Mini Stocks, Atom's Pest Control Trucks and the Mini Wedges all try to complete their seventh night of racing on the banked oval dirt track near Millersburg as well.
