Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory have been selected to be a member of the Cremation Safeguard nationwide network of crematories. There are only four other firms in Ohio, and 30 other firms nationwide, that have met the exacting standards of care required to be in the program.

The Cremation Safeguard system includes:

- Three levels of electronic fingerprint tracking. The first is done with the family present for identification, the next is when the body is taken to the crematory, and the last time a scan is taken and matched is just prior to the cremation itself.

- Closed circuit video captures all aspects of the cremation process.

- The assignment of a lock number when the initial fingerprint is taken. That lock is then used to secure the urn at the completion of the process.

Implementation and training with Safeguard has taken place over the past six months and the first families recently walked through the process in July. They were amazed by the technology, and impressed with the steps Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory have taken to ensure peace of mind regarding the care of their loved ones.

The crematory staff, which includes four Cremation Association of North America (CANA) certified crematory operators, now has the industry’s premier system to help hold the team to an even higher standard of care.
