Therm-O-Disc management, a division of Emerson Electric, hosted a catered luncheon for the entire SUPERB team in appreciation for their successful execution of a large joint project. John Miller, president of SUPERB Industries, Inc., noted that this was the first time a customer insisted on hosting a luncheon at their expense in appreciation for the company’s efforts - it is the type of thing the company would usually want to do for their customers—not something expected as a supplier.

Ron Vrooman, global supply chain services manager for Therm-O-Disc, addressed the entire SUPERB team and explained that while they have been working with SUPERB for a long time, the past two to four months have been especially noteworthy because of the magnitude of the projects that were successfully launched. “They were big for us and big for you guys,” stated Vrooman.

He brought a copy of Therm-O-Disc’s vision and mission statement because he wanted to show the SUPERB team how they are an integral part of their mission. Our vision is to build “a culture driven by exceptional attitudes and behavior” and our mission is to create “superior customer value,” explained Vrooman.

According to Vrooman, it was SUPERB’s performance on the last two large projects that gave them the idea to do what is a first for them as well—host an appreciation luncheon for one of their suppliers. The reason: because of the value SUPERB created for them and ultimately their customers.

Vrooman concluded his comments to the SUPERB team by saying, “So once again, on behalf of Therm-O-Disc, we wanted to host this appreciation luncheon as a token of appreciation for being that supplier that is driving superior customer value.” Vrooman’s comments were followed by a group luncheon, a tour of the SUPERB facility, and a group photo on SUPERB’s recently completed Innovation Plaza.

SUPERB supplies Therm-O-Disc plants in Mansfield, Ohio, Mexico, China and Vietnam with millions of engineered components each year. SUPERB’s high speed near net shape manufacturing and assembly technology has enabled it to cost effectively supply Therm-O-Disc’s global footprint.
