Katherine Reichman

Katherine O. Reichman, 96, of Pinehurst, N.C., formerly of New Philadelphia, died August 6, 2011, at Colonial House.

A daughter of the late Perle and Nora Henry, Katherine was born Oct. 10, 1914, in Gnadenhutten. She graduated from Tuscarawas-Warwick High School in 1932. Then on June 26, 1937, she married the love of her life, Raymond R. Reichman. The couple shared 55 years of marriage prior to Raymond’s passing in 1992.

At the age of four, Katherine began attending Sharon Moravian Church and was a member for 78 years. She served as a Sunday school teacher for 40 of those years, and was also employed by Snyder Manufacturing for 25 years, retiring in 1962.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Rosalie (Joe) Pepe of Pinehurst, N.C.; son, Thomas (Patricia) Reichman of Fairplay, Colo.; grandson, Ray (Perri) Butler of Monument, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Rhett Butler of Laramie, Wyo., and Rhiannon (A.J.) Kaltenbach of Miamisburg; stepgrandchildren, Cindy and James Raymer; and special friends, Armstrong and Adelia Wiggins and their family. Katherine also played a significant role in the lives of her nieces and nephews (the Cochran Five) and considered them an extension of her own family.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Canfield, Helen Davis, and Alice Limbaugh; and brother, Lawrence Henry.

Services celebrating Katherine’s life were held August 13, at Sharon Moravian Church, with Rev. Dennis G. Rohn officiating. Burial was in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery.
