Children’s chorus to begin rehearsals

The Greater Tuscarawas Children’s Chorus is preparing for its fourth year. The chorus is for area children who enjoy singing, are at least 8 years old and in grades three through eight, and have treble (unchanged) voices.

This independent group, an outgrowth of the highly successful Summer Music Camp, is based in First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia. The chorus is under the direction of Monica Davy and Carolyn Wallace.

Weekly rehearsals, on Mondays at 5:45 p.m., provide vocal instruction that is appropriate for the child’s voice.

Registration and voice testing will take place Sept. 12 and 19 in First Presbyterian Church, 217 East High Ave., New Philadelphia. A parent or another adult should come with the child for one of these sessions. Voice testing takes about 45 minutes, and is age appropriate, enjoyable, and will explore the vocal potential of each child.

To reserve a time, contact Monica Davy at 234-521-3198.

A small tuition per semester will be charged to each member. This is to help offset the cost of music and supplies. A limited number of need based scholarships are available to children who qualify. There is no charge for voice testing.

The chorus performs at a few concerts each year, and is available to perform for civic groups.

For more information, contact Monica Davy at 234-521-3198.
