With each step of the way, while watching over your shoulder at the noises in the woods, you will feel like you are going back in time. Let your imagination lead you as you enter the glen of Sleepy Hollow and listen as a storyteller transforms the outdoors with an adapted story of Washington Irving’s classic tale. Find your seat around a bonfire, and be sure to bring the whole family. Benches, hay bales and blankets will fill the area as visitors will feel like they are part of the story as the legendary Ichabod Crane enters with a group of school students and is bedazzled by the lovely Katrina Van Tassell.
Listen as the storyteller unfolds the tale with the excitement of an autumn party to include treats prepared just for the guests. Pumpkin muffins by Steineck’s Donuts & Cakes and apple cider served by the townspeople will keep the evening going deeper into the legend as Brom Bones appears at the right moment to terrify Ichabod with his tales of the Headless Horseman… but remember that some legends seem a bit more real as you check behind you.
A family friendly event, the dramatic reading will last approximately one hour and include fall treats with the performance, which will begin promptly at 8 p.m. on both Oct. 21 and 22. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will be presented by the light of a bonfire in the open air of the Schoenbrunn Village lower level picnic facilities. Groups will be escorted to the lower level and must walk a short distance; prearranged handicap accessibility will be available.
Tickets are available now for adults (age 13 years and older) and for youth (age 1 year through 12 years). Reservations are required with limited seating for each performance and rainout dates offered in case of inclement weather. The Schoenbrunn Village gift shop will also be open before and following the event, with special fall items. Tickets may be purchased by phone by calling 877-278-8020 or 800-752-2711.
