Mark Kordon, 30-plus year building custodian for New Philadelphia City Schools, worked his last day on August 31. Kordon is retiring to join his wife in retirement.

Welty Principal Eric Jurkovic and Assistant Principal Brian Gibson organized a line-up of 700-plus students and 60 staff throughout the school hallways, inside and outside the building, to give Kordon a high five and wish him a very happy retirement. Kordon was very surprised and very touched by this farewell gesture.

Kordon said, “It has been a wonderful experience working at New Philadelphia schools and getting to know all the staff and students. I will miss them all.”
