A daughter of the late Albert T. and Blanche L. Dolzine, Cindy was born July 22, 1956, in Dover. She graduated with honors, in the top four percent of her class, from New Philadelphia High School in 1974. During her school years, she served as a staff writer for the school newspaper at both Welty Junior High and the high school. While in seventh grade, she was the champion of the Tuscarawas County Spelling Bee. She was a member of the Ecology Club, the National Honor Society, Junior Achievement, the Junior Bowling Association, 4-H, and Girl Scouts.
Cindy retired from GTE, where she worked for many years. She was a member of the Tuscarawas County WBA for nearly 20 years and sat on the board of directors of the Eastern Credit Union (GTE) for 10 years.
Cindy is survived by her life partner of 15 years, Robert R. “Dawg” Swift; adopted sisters, Kathy (Olinger) Mitchell of Dover, and Yvonne Smith and Susie Everhart, both of New Philadelphia; her extended family, Debbie Franklin and Debbie Linsinbigler of Lake Worth, Fla., and Judy “Julia” Schumate of Palm Springs, Fla.; nieces, Abigail B. Lee and Amanda I. Lee of Charlotte, N.C.; nephew, Teddy Snyder of New Philadelphia; her former husbands, Howard F. Ferguson of Tippecanoe and Terry A. Lee of Canton; and many cousins and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by 12 aunts and uncles, several cousins, and many friends.
Services will be held Oct. 19, at 11 a.m., at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Father Anthony Lonzo officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date alongside her parents in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia. Following services, a luncheon will be held at the Geib Family Center, New Philadelphia. Calling hours will be from 10-11 a.m.
Cindy’s family and friends would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Cancer Institute at Good Samaritan Hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla., and the nurses of the fourth floor surgical-medical unit and fifth floor hospice unit at Good Samaritan Hospital.
