It was a banner year for giving by BPOE Lodge 510 in New Philadelphia. In a final report on the year’s giving, detailed in the membership meeting Oct. 18, treasurer Chuck Flint revealed charitable donations totaling $22,333 for the year. A total of 14 local organizations were on the list receiving significant contributions from 510’s treasury.

Included were: $2,000 each to the Dover/New Philadelphia Food Bank, Harbor House battered spouse shelter, and the Tuscarawas County Free Clinic; more than $3,000 to support local school academic and athletic programs, $650 to the Salvation Army, $500 to support local senior transport services, and the largest item of all, more than $9,500 distributed in individual college scholarships to deserving students in the Dover-New Philadelphia community.

Exalted Ruler Michael Schroyer expressed pride that, in a time of economic hardship for so many, BPOE 510 was able to make such a difference in so many lives.
