The keynote speaker will be Sgt. 1st Class David Limbaugh, a 1990 graduate of Dover High.
Limbaugh enlisted in the Ohio National Guard March 7, 1990 as a fire support specialist. He transferred to active duty in the United States Army Sept. 28, 1991. Stateside he served in Kentucky, Oklahoma, New Jersey, and New Mexico. His foreign duty assignments included service in Germany and Korea and he has deployed as the Battalion Fire Support Sergeant of Task Force Saber in Iraq and Afghanistan, and as the Ground Liaison to the 332 Expeditionary Wing, Balad Iraq.
He retired Oct. 1 after 20 years of service.
Limbaugh’s awards and decorations are the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Combat Action Badge.
His military education included the Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Warrior Leader Course, Joint Fires Observer Course, Joint Operational Fires and Effects Course, Pathfinder School, and Air Assault School.
He holds an associate degree in interdisciplinary studies from Cameron University, Lawton Okla., and is currently attending Malone University studying middle childhood education.
Limbaugh currently resides in Dover with his wife, Lisa. They have two sons, Gavin and Chase.
Also part of the veterans services will be the Ohio Buckeye Color Guard of VFW Post 3463, the VFW Honor Guard for firing the salute to the dead, and the Dover High School Marching Tornadoes.
The VFW Post 3463 Ladies Auxiliary will host a free bean soup and cornbread buffet following the services. It will be held in conjunction with a bake sale for the auxiliary general operations. Both events will be held in the basement of Memorial Hall.
