ASAP LifeGuard selected as top 20 innovations for 2011
EMS World Magazine, the leading monthly publication for the emergency medical services market, has announced the winners of the 2011 Top Innovation awards, which recognize the industry’s most innovative products of the year. The winners were chosen by industry expert Mike Smith, BS, MICP, EMS World Magazine editorial advisory board member. The awards were presented at the Vital Signs Conference in Syracuse, N.Y. Oct. 13–16.
This year’s winners include Midvale, Ohio based company ASAP (Alternative Support Apparatus, LLC.) Founded in 2005, ASAP is the leading manufacturer of innovative, world class off-road specialty vehicles. ASAP currently manufactures four main product lines – the MedStat ambulance, the Wildfire fire fighting/rescue vehicle, the LifeGuard beach and trail patrol/rescue vehicle, and the Select Series Flatbed that has various “mod kits” for industrial, utility, construction and EMS applications.
EMS World chose the ASAP LifeGuard as one of the Top Innovations of 2011, declaring it, “One of the most unique and incredibly functional modes of transportation currently available.” The LifeGuard is a six-wheel, all-wheel drive, gas-powered vehicle built on the workhorse Polaris Ranger 6x6 chassis, which is capable of speeds up to 40 mph. Features include roll bar for safety, a tread plate roof and power steering. The aluminum bed features a canvas Bimini top to keep patients out of the sun or inclement weather. There is a choice of configurations from a full-sized gurney carrying system or a Stokes basket carrying system. The 80-inch front seat with full seat back pad will easily accommodate up to three adults.
