Born August 8, 1937, in Glencoe, Joyce was a daughter of the late David and Sarah Logan. She retired from Gradall as an RN after 36 years of service and served on the first advisory board at Kent State University when they started the nursing program. She was instrumental in developing the medical program at Gradall and was the first occupational nurse.
Joyce was a member of the Buckeye Beagle Club since 1963, serving on the board of directors and as the secretary-treasurer, and was also a member of the Buckeye Tracking Club since 1981. She was a delegate for the American Kennel Club and AKC judge for all tracking competitions, and was one of the top 10 judges selected throughout the country. Joyce’s love of dogs lead her and Gail Burkett to open their own obedience training class, which they ran for many years.
Joyce will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, George Klamut, whom she married Jan. 3, 1959; brother, David (Linda) Logan of California; and nephews, Ronald Shores of California and Matthew (Tracy) Shores of South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Betty Logan, and sister, Joan Shores.
Cremation has been entrusted to Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. There will be no calling hours or services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Norma Johnson Center, 277-B Canal Ave. SE, New Philadelphia 44663.
