Local Marines need your help to accomplish their mission. Do you know that every child in Tuscarawas County deserves a new toy on Christmas? Children do not comprehend or appreciate financial restrictions, application deadlines, the home-mortgage crisis, government bailouts, or residency requirements. No child should go without a toy on Christmas. We’re looking for a few new toys to give to local kids. It’s a straightforward objective.

Due to insufficient participation, some of the locations may change. If you are unable to locate a drop-off point in your city, go to another listed location.

The local Marines gave our first cache of toys to the WJER Toy Drive, Nov. 30. The second batch will go to the Share-A-Christmas program of the Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community (T-4-C). Our league will also furnish toys to St. Joseph Church for the Hispanic Christmas, celebrated after Dec. 25.

The Tuscarawas County Marine Corps League is furnishing toys to local organizations like the Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community’s Share-A-Christmas. This will free up their scarce dollars and enable the organizations to concentrate on clothing and food items for the needy during Christmastime. People in Tuscarawas County have a rich history of helping other people. Our contribution of toys allows them to be more efficient with the money they raise.

Tuscarawas County is the southernmost county in the Akron-area Marine Corps catchment area. The Akron unit, via Marine Toys for Tots coordinator Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Starr, furnishes toys from their collection sites throughout northeastern and east-central Ohio to the local Marine Corps League for distribution to needy organizations.

The local Marines who serve as volunteers are Gene Baker, Paul Dolvin, and Jack Dauer from Zoarville; Tony Incarnato, Dave Berry, and Sam Loibl from New Philadelphia; Bill Murphy from Stone Creek; Pat Walker from Sugarcreek; Mel Anderson from Uhrichsville; and Rodney Tomblin from Bolivar.

Won’t you help your local Marines help children get toys on Christmas? The Marines guarantee your donation, in the form of a new toy or a monetary contribution, will be put to good use.
