Harlan Immel

Harlan Immel, 92, of Sugarcreek, died Dec. 16, 2011, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home, Walnut Creek, following a brief illness.

Born July 4, 1919, in Holmes County, Harlan was a son of the late William and Elva Immel. He worked for 41 years for the former Clay Craft Brick Co., Sugarcreek, then retired in 1985 from the Belden Brick Co. after five years. He was a longtime member of Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.

Surviving are sons, Ellis Immel of Sugarcreek, Gordon (Donna) Immel of Kidron, and Nevin (Sharlene) Immel of Sellersville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Immel, whom he married April 28, 1945; daughter, Carol Shoup; brothers, Robert and Glenn Immel; and sister, Clara Mae Schlegel.

Celebration of life services will be held Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, with Pastor Don Hamsher officiating. A luncheon will be held following services. Prior to services, a committal service will be held in the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held Dec. 19, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and Dec. 20, from 9-10 a.m.
