“Each one of our kittens is then scheduled for spays or neuters when they reach the appropriate age,” said Lindsey Lewis, TCHS director.
On Feb. 16 the Tuscarawas County Humane Society will be hosting the Rascal Unit, a mobile spay/neuter clinic, to provide low cost spays for cats only.
“During the event they will be able to complete 30 cat spays,” said Megan Kovalaske, cat shelter director. “We are hoping individuals will spay their cats before they go into heat and add to the upcoming kitten season.”
In seven years one cat and her offspring can produce up to 420,000 cats.
Pet owners can register for the event by mailing a $20 deposit to: Julie Cornell, 1546 Terrace Road NW, New Philadelphia 44663. Make checks payable to TCHS. All deposits are non-refundable.
The deposit will be reduced from the surgery fee. For pricing and other services provided during this event, call TCHS at 330-343-6060 or visit http://www.tuschumanesociety.com. Future Rascal Unit dates for dog and cat spays/neuters are March 17, May 12, July 21, Sept. 15 and Nov. 17.
