The Elk’s Lodge donated use of their banquet room for the function.
The chairman of the event, New Philadelphia officer Ty Norris, said, “We are very appreciative to the businesses and residents of Tuscarawas County for the support they gave us with this program.” The FOP, utilizing phone solicitations the past few months, allows this program to continue. A large majority of the proceeds are used to cover the expenses associated with this event.
There were approximately 58 children treated to pizza, cookies, and hot chocolate prior to meeting with Santa Claus and receiving their gifts.
The FOP started this program a few years ago in an attempt to promote a positive image to the youngsters as police officers, plus the residents need to know the FOP is here to help make life better for everyone served by officers.
Norris said, “The FOP is looking forward to next year and we hope we will have the ability to exceed the number of children we shopped for this year. Our goal for this program is for the Fraternal Order of Police to provide a joyous Christmas for some they may not have been able to enjoy otherwise.”
