Ruth McPeek
Ruth Jayne McPeek, 76, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Jan. 15, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 4, 1935, in Cadiz, Ruth was the daughter of the late William Lawrence “Hap” and Mary Lucille Wright. After graduating from Dennison High School in the class of 1953, she attended White Cross Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1956. She worked at Union Hospital on the maternity floor as a registered nurse for 44 years until her retirement in 2000. Her favorite part of the job was rocking the newborns. She also enjoyed eating breakfast at the New Philadelphia Bob Evans, where she was always treated like family by the waitresses.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald Dean McPeek; daughters, Kim (Albert) Butcher and Mary Ann Milligan, both of New Philadelphia; sons, Ronnie (Donna) McPeek of Tuscarawas and Pat (Melinda) McPeek of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Bethanny and Lindsay Butcher, Rachelle (Cody) Braun, and Andy, Elizabeth, Seth, Jordan, Caitlin, and Kylie McPeek; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Mason; brothers, Donald (Helen) Wright of Dennison and Gary (Patty) Wright of Uhrichsville; sister, Mary Ann (Frank) Hicks of Uhrichsville; sister-in-law, Lou Ann Wright Justice of West Lafayette; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Wright.
Graveside services will be held Jan. 18, at 1:30 p.m., in the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery, Tuscarawas, with Rev. Darrell Johnson officiating.
