Tuscarawas County Writers’ Guild to welcome renowned author Paul Stutzman

Non-fiction, poetry, and fiction genre groups met when the Tuscarawas County Writers’ Guild held their January meeting at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts (TCCA) in New Philadelphia. The genre groups allowed members to work on writing exercises, read and discuss their work with other writers, and discuss other topics related to writing.

Cathie Adams, Harley Sefert, Jim Verhovec, and Devon McCarty read stories they had written on the January assignment topic of false accusations.

It was announced that Paul Stutzman, author of Hiking Through and his newest book Biking Through, will speak to the guild May 16. Members of the group also discussed attending the Wayne College Writer’s conference in April.

Dues for 2012 are $15 and may be paid at any meeting or by sending a check to the Tuscarawas County Writers’ Guild, P.O. Box 335, New Philadelphia 44663.

Critique sessions are planned for the Feb. 15 meeting, at 7 p.m., at the TCCA. Anyone who would like their work critiqued should bring 10 copies of up to five double spaced pages.

The February writing assignment is My Next 30 Years. Members should write about their goals for that time period. New members and visitors are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.

The Tuscarawas County Writers’ Guild can be found on Facebook or on the web at http://www.tuscarawascountywritersguild.org.
