“The community response to this event for the last two years has been overwhelming,” said Pam Dummermuth, coordinator of Community Health and Wellness at Union Hospital and member of the Healthy Tusc task force. According to Dummermuth, the Winter Hike is offered as a means of promoting heart health through fitness and exercise during the winter months. “We hope that the fellowship of getting out into the community and the scenic surroundings of Schoenbrunn Village will inspire folks to get out and stay active in the winter months,” she said.
Hikers will use the upper, historic trail. Lower trails will be available for hiking, weather permitting. Door prizes will be available and lunch of ham and bean soup, corn bread and bottled water will be provided following the hike. No registration is required.
