Union Hospital program can help smokers quit

Union Hospitalís Smoking Cessation program can help smokers quit for good.

The WorkWell workplace wellness staff at Union Hospital will help all smokers who want to kick the habit by offering free classes during the next several months. The hospital will host Smoking Cessation classes at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates: April 24, May 8 and 22, June 12 and 16, July 10 and 24, Aug. 14 and 28, and Sept. 11 and 25. The classes are free and open to the public, and it is suggested participants attend at least six sessions.

Registration is requested and can be completed online on the Health Events section of the hospital website at www.unionhospital.org or by calling 330-308-3599.

The hospitalís Smoking Cessation program is designed to help smokers explore a number of issues related to smoking such as learning about the benefits of quitting, learning about addiction, how to relearn a habit, providing tips for relapse prevention, overall supportive self-care methods and discussing medication options.

The classes will be taught by Mary Marshall, RN, a tobacco treatment specialist for the hospital and a certified health and wellness coach. For additional details call Marshall at 330-343-3311 ext. 2197 or email marym@unionhospital.org.
