County library offering assistance with new gadgets

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System’s main library will host a series of programs for individuals who need help navigating their new electronics.

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System’s main library at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia will host a series of programs for anyone who received a new gadget this year for the holidays.
“These programs are geared toward anyone who got a new smartphone, tablet, e-reader or gadget for the holidays and wants a little help with the basics and getting started,” emerging technology associate Virginia Wright said. “We will be offering three separate programs that are broken down by the brand of gadgets to make it a little easier to learn.”
Wright said the three programs offered are for Kindle Fire, Android and iOS (Apple) users. For those with a question about what category their device falls under, call the library to get assistance in determining which program is right.
“We love being able to offer these programs,” library director Michelle McMorrow Ramsell said. “It’s exciting to get new gadgets as gifts, but sometimes it can be intimidating to get things started and figured out all on your own.”
The county library hosts a wide variety of technology programs and trainings throughout the year.
“This is just a small piece of the larger technology training that we offer at the county library,” Wright said. “In addition to the many programs and classes we offer, we also provide one-on-one assistance for anyone who would like to schedule a Book-a-Librarian or Tech Guy Time. These are available by calling any library location or registering through the event calendar on our website.”
Dates and times for the gadget programs are as follows:
Beginning Gadget Users: Kindle Fire on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon; Beginning Gadget Users: Android on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon; and Beginning Gadget Users: iOS on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 1-3 p.m.
To register for these free programs or for more information about programs offered at all five locations of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System, visit their website at www.tusclibrary.org or call 330-364-4474 ext. 101.
